A Day at Edgerton Community Garden

Edgerton Park has 22 acres and is located in New Haven, CT. The property was originally owned by Eli Whitney. The property has a Greenhouse that houses plants from different parts of the world, it has a rainforest exhibit and many different kinds of orchids and tropical plants. There is also a mini pond filled with Koi fish.

The Community Garden is open to experienced and beginner gardeners alike. Some gardeners grow vegetables others grow flowers. The gardening season runs from April to October.

It is a beautiful place to walk and enjoy Nature. I have often visited and just sat on the benches taking in all the Beauty that surrounds me.

Another wonderful aspect of Edgerton is that it works closely with the Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center. The program gives workers training in horticultural skills, the workers also raise and sell plants in one wing of the greenhouses.
